Mo Lovett Law will be based in Houston and will focus on high-stakes commercial litigation, litigation consulting and mediation and arbitration.
“I have had an incredible career working with some of the most elite trial lawyers in the country, but I believe it is now time to forge my own path,” said Ms. Lovett. “I really want to give clients the benefit of my trial experience in a more personalized environment. My goal has been consistent since I started practicing in 1994: I want to be their warrior in the courtroom and their trusted friend and counselor behind the scenes.”

A proven first-chair trial lawyer, Ms. Lovett has tried more than 50 jury cases to verdict, with more than $100 billion combined at stake. Her expertise is in handling and trying cases involving complex legal issues, including patent infringement, trademark infringement, theft of trade secrets, commercial disputes, entertainment litigation, class actions, employment litigation and product liability matters -- on both sides of the aisle.
In her 30-year career, Ms. Lovett has successfully represented some of the world’s largest companies and handled several high-profile cases. Her work includes:
- Representing a major bank accused of discriminating against Black customers nationwide.
- Successfully defending a Fortune 10 software company in a $43 billion trademark infringement matter.
- Representing Lady A (formerly known as Lady Antebellum) in the fight for its name.
- Representing a major oil company in land-loss litigation in Louisiana.
- Representing R.J. Reynolds against the State of Texas.
- Serving as lead counsel in more than 75 patent cases.
- Representing the nation’s oldest toy manufacturer as co-lead counsel in cases involving infant deaths.
Before launching Mo Lovett Law, Ms. Lovett was a trial and global disputes partner at the global law firm King & Spalding. Before moving to King & Spalding, she spent 18 years at Greenberg Traurig, where she was senior vice president and ranking woman in the firm of 2,650 lawyers and 5,000 employees in 47 offices around the world.
Ms. Lovett has also been recognized as a Band 1 Trial Lawyer by Chambers USA and as a leading commercial litigator in Texas. She has been honored by The Best Lawyers in America, and Texas Super Lawyers named her among the “Top 100 Lawyers in Texas,” the “Top 100 Lawyers in Houston” and the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas.” Texas Lawyer magazine named her a Top Mentor in 2020, and she is dedicated to fielding diverse teams for every case.
“I am very excited about this next chapter,” said Ms. Lovett. “I have spent decades fighting for my clients in courtrooms across the country. And I’m just getting started in my own practice, where conflicts will be minimized and I can provide excellent value outside the ‘Big Law’ model.”
