Falling into IT
Although Ms. Mughal initially planned to pursue a role in the nuclear energy sector, her career took a pivotal turn into information technology. While working at a boutique enterprise architecture consultancy, she was recruited by a former director to join Red Hat Inc., an open-source software company headquartered in the United States. This marked the beginning of a transformative chapter in her career.
Since joining Red Hat in 2011, Ms. Mughal has held a variety of leadership roles across sales operations, user experience and product management, demonstrating her ability to drive business transformation at scale.
From 2023 to 2024, she served as director of product management for CRM Modernization, where she led one of Red Hat's most ambitious global initiatives. In this role, she served as the chief business architect, overseeing the delivery of a new enterprise-grade Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system used by over 8,000 sellers worldwide. This transformation unified regional processes, standardized opportunity lifecycles and enhanced pipeline visibility across the organization. Under her leadership, the program aligned cross-functional goals and enabled measurable improvements in sales efficiency, forecast accuracy and user adoption.
Prior to this, from 2022 to 2023, Ms. Mughal served as director of sales process modernization and user experience, where she laid the groundwork for CRM modernization by shaping the end-to-end sales process design. Her work in this phase was instrumental in harmonizing business requirements, enabling scalable workflows and driving global alignment in preparation for enterprise-wide rollout.
Since 2024, Ms. Mughal has held the position of senior director of product management, through which she continues to lead large-scale transformation initiatives with a focus on sales technology, GTM strategy and operational excellence.
